I have tried many lucid dreaming techniques over the years without much success. I was wondering what is different about your information, and which of your books will best help me achieve lucid dreams if you could only recommend one? On average, how long does it take people to become lucid using your methods?
From my research, the part of your conscious brain that allows one to become lucid in a dream is “switched off” during sleep making it hard to become aware that you are dreaming.

My second book, Lucid Dreaming Plain and Simple, has all the techniques and tips that I have used to have more than 1,000 lucid dreams. As I mentioned in my interview with Coast to Coast, I created a simple technique in 1975 to become lucid (six years before the scientific evidence emerged) — and began having consciously induced lucid dreams while in high school.
It took me less than one week to use that technique and become lucid. But I had good dream recall — and a good ability to focus! If you have those two abilities, then you should do very well.
Although the brain is different in dreaming than in waking, it remains a fact that millions of people will have lucid dreams this year. Research has shown that approx. 50% of the general population can recall a lucid dream, and college age people come in at 70% can recall a lucid dream. Hopefully this fact will help you realize that it can happen, and it can happen to you 😉
I recall in one of my workshops, I helped a 70 year old woman (who had never had any lucid dreams) to have three lucid dreams in one week! The first one, she became too excited and woke up 😉 but in the next two lucid dreams, she did exactly as I told her and stabilized the lucid dream, and accomplished her lucid dream goal with amazing success. She was a good student, because she focused on the lucid dream lessons, increased her dream recall, and paid attention in her dreams.
