hi Robert.

It seems to be a while since anyone’s posted here, and given you just mentioned this site in the interview with Clare yesterday (today??), I’m hoping that you’re still monitoring this channel.

I love your books, especially the first, and consider it the #1 book on LD, given the vast areas it goes over, and the depths it plunges… for me, it’s a ‘must read’ for anyone interested in the topic (especially since so many other LD influencers seem to focus merely on having fun and other more hedonistic goals).

I have a couple of related questions.

Firstly, I’ve been trying to become an omni-super-lucid dreamer for the past few months/  couple of years. I’ll WBTB a few times a week, and recently using Monroe Institute”s Lucid Dreaming series… still no luck – not like months ago when my first SSILD gave me my most powerful LD (I’ll write it up and send it – cos it’s a bit amusing).

So, I”m getting a) frustrated, and b) despondent/depressed.

Q 1 – has there been any/much research (official or scientific) in trying to improve ‘real’ world manifestation (Law of Attraction type stuff, effective use of affirmations and the like) while in LD? Given how effective many other techniques are (especially healing) in LDs, this should be a given – and even more powerful than getting into alpha or hypnosis, by bypassing the logical, rational – and somewhat irrational beliefs that limit and hold us back (aka, blocks).

Q2 – Related to this, has there been anything suggesting that one’s first LD experiences should include as part of the ‘Plan of Action’ (thanks Michael Raduga!) to insert commands/affirmations that one can LD easily, effortlessly, and on command/ easily recognise dreamsigns and become conscious, aware and lucid? If hypnotic suggestions can work to encourage one to LD, then using the same principles, it would make sense that embedding those affirmations (and the associated emotions) once lucid should make becoming lucid more regularly (and more qualitatively awesome) that much easier!

3 – And related to both the above – how about trying to help make someone else a proficient serial LDer? If we can help heal other people, it makes sense that we should also be able to help them achieve their goals. In this respect, I’m not referring to showing up in someone else’s dream and trying to get them lucid (peace out!), but instead asking those that seem to be other entities (the blue light??) to help other people become lucid. I would expect that for this to happen, the wannabe LDer would want to make it known that they want to become proficient, and ask for the help. (have you seen “Max Westerley”s’ page on using chaos magic while in LD??)

Many thanks, and BE Well!!!

Hi,

Thanks for your note. In years past, I’d get an email notifying me of questions posted here, but somehow this has not occurred lately, so excuse my tardiness in responding.

To your first question, I am not aware of research on this occurring in research labs. There seems to be little money focused on lucid dreaming research, beyond the neuro-physical elements.

Regarding affirmations, etc., I feel that making appropriate affirmations (that you actually feel and believe/agree with) during a lucid dream can make a considerable difference in your future experience. And we see this in lots of lucid dream healing reports and other experiences, where the ‘affirmed’ thing (ie., the physical healing) happens.

Can you affirm improvement in ‘skills’ in the lucid dream state? Yes, and it seems to make an improvement, according to research and also personal anecdotes. As my first book and second book notes, you still have your own mindset or belief framework to work through (and this is where the filtering occurs to allow or disallow).

To your final questions, these seem possible depending upon the mindset of the lucid dreamer.

It would be interesting to talk to experienced lucid dreamers who have explored these exact questions. I imagine the potential and how to ‘approach’ it would begin to emerge if a person collected ten such reports.

All the best,

Robert
