Robert,
This book was incredibly moving! I first heard about the notion of lucid dreaming shortly before purchasing your book and I was incredibly intrigued by the idea. However, it was not until reading "Lucid Dreaming" that I understood the true beauty of this practice. You are an excellent writer and I was blown away by the organizational structure of this book. Your final dream example provided (the one where it seems as if the dream persons tried to awaken your consciousness) almost brought a tear to my eye. This was the most fun book I've ever read, and I cannot stress enough how inspiring it has been (in so many areas of my life).
I remember having a young dream as a child in which I was trying to fly. I succeeded, but I had to flap my arms with all my might to do so (my expectations of gravity clearly came with me into my dream). And I had my second lucid dream (that I can recall) as I neared the end of this book. I intend to practice lucid dreaming for the rest of my life and am intensely excited by such a prospect!
In short, thank you for writing this book.
Stephen
Hi Robert:
And, yes, praises for your book Lucid Dreaming! I loved it.
For almost thirty years now, I have been lucid dreaming and have had approximately 600 lucid dreams (I don't know the exactly number as I stopped counting years ago). So much of what you had to say about the subject was familiar to me from my own experience; thus, how great it was to read the words of a veteran explorer of the dream terrain--words that corroborated my own experience:
-Asking dream characters if they knew "we" were dreaming--CHECK!
-Asking the dream itself various questions--CHECK!
-Asking characters what they symbolized--CHECK!
-Noticing how much various dream characters vary in their knowledge of the dream scenario--CHECK!
-Expanding and exploring the dream space--CHECK!
I have also had dreams of light in which I and my dream body and the whole dream dissolve into a brilliant--and I mean BRILLIANT--white light of immense love, intelligence and--CHECK!
Also did the "EXPECTO PATRONUM" experiment. That was fun!
In short, thank you.
Yours truly,
Sylvo Frank
Hi Robert,
First off, I want to say a big THANK YOU for such an incredible book. Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the Inner Self to me is simply the most profound book on the subject to date.
Before the book arrived I had deep mounting excitement which is unusual for me when waiting for a book to come. I kept phoning the local bookstore to see if it had come in. They very kindly re-assured me (each time!) that they would indeed call as soon as it arrived. What was frustrating was that the wholesale supplier was very nearby but is notoriously slow at getting books out to retailers. How they keep their business going in these competitive times I'll never know?
A lesson in patience I guess, but all the more interesting that I felt so strong in my desire to read it. As I began to read it I realised why I was so keen.
It has been answering so many questions (even ones I didn't know I had!) A real deep sense that this is the book I've been waiting for.
It is really broadening my mind and getting me to address certain assumptions about the dream world I've believed in. I've had some lucid dream experience over three years or so, and always sensed the great potential but some how always managed to lose interest after the initial enthusiasm waned.
My view is that my Inner self knows the right timing to engage in deeper inner work so I've probably been saved from myself. I did a lot of processing of my shadow side outside of dreaming and because of this I feel mature enough to go "in there" with greater wisdom at this time - thanks to your book.
I just wanted to say how great I'm finding it (just over half way through) and salute you for sharing your wisdom, experience and pratical advice in such a beautiful way.
Yours VERY gratefully,
Mark L (Auckland, NZ)
Ben’s interview:
Something funny happens when I read books on lucid dreaming:
I have more lucid dreams.
It wasn’t but a day or two into reading Robert Waggoners new book, Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the Inner Self, that I found myself experiencing more lucidity in my dreams.

Intelligent and forward thinking, November 6, 2008
As another reviewer here has suggested, this is the book 2008 has been waiting for in the field of lucid dreaming. Created with the high level of intelligence and pioneering quality that I'm sure many lucid dreamers have been waiting for, this remarkable book may serve as a point of reference for those eager to pursue the unknown that patiently lies in waiting just beyond our mundane awareness. ….Thank you Robert. Looking forward with great anticipation to further stimulating books from you in the future!
Definitely worth reading, February 16, 2009
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in lucid dreams. I've read nearly every book about lucid dreaming and I can say without hesitation this book is one of the best… I wish this book had been around years ago when I first began my lucid dreaming practice…, I recommend adding this to your personal library.
The key to the lucid dreams world, May 4, 2009
I've had my first two lucid dreams on the second night after reading first 50 pages. The energy this book emits shifted my perception on very deep level and served me as a key to the lucid dreams world…. I think that learning these techniques from the Master makes the difference.
